Baketsu Daisakusen (Horse Racing)

Horse Racing games are incredibly popular in Japan. As it's not as widely appreciated in America, countless horse racing games have never made it to the states. I'll try anything once...

Out of all the games, this has the least bit of info, making seeing it outside of Japan unlikely. OK, I’ll even admit it, this is one I’m least interested in out of all of the games.

At the same time, Horse Racing games are one of the most popular genres in Japan, mainly because horse racing is really popular as a sport in Japan. Still, since they’ve been making these games awhile, I figure that horse racing games must be honed into a fine art by now and should be pretty fun, right?

Following the same logic, you gotta figure that a horse racing game by Nintendo would definitely be fun.

Parts of my interest may stem from the fact that I grew up taking care of horses and enjoy riding. Also, I was a Racing Editor back at the 64 Source, so I kinda became a racing-nut by necessity (and with as many as there were for N64… Eh, don’t get me started!). I guess I’m just curious to see what all the fuss is about with these games and the graphics really look ecellent. The look of the game also reminds me of Pilotwings for SNES for some reason. Maybe I should sample this by importing but most horse training games include training and regulating your horse’s diet and such, aspects certainly heavy on language (and the screens seem heavy on text).

I also wonder if such a title could appeal to girls? That might make it a worthy addition to the U.S. launch library. I don’t know (and it may not appeal to you—it’s a free country) but it’s got my vote. What the hay! And hay is for horses… Uhhhhh….
