Worst Surprise

E3 2005 Award (no border)

Game Boy Micro

On the opposite end of the spectrum, the announcement Nintendo was probably hoping to make the biggest splash ended up as a dud. Sure, the Game Boy Micro looks cool, but are there really that many people out there without a GBA already? Nintendo says they are targeting a different market with the Micro. They’ll just have to hope that that market cares about the system more than the E3 show goers did.

"Don't get me wrong. I love my GBA, and I think it still has some life in it, but a re-design just isn't necessary. Third Pillar or not, Nintendo has to wake up and smell the roses that it has to focus wholely on the DS if they want to stand up to Sony's PSP. The GBA Micro is a fun little gadget, but it seems completely unnecessary." - Karl Castaneda

"Totally disagree. The GBA Micro is really cool. Why is everybody hating on it, because it's not a handheld GameCube?" - Jonathan Lindemann

" It’s really cool, but I won’t be buying one." - Daniel Bloodworth

"The Micro is a well designed unit, but only the most fashion-conscious gamers will fork out for one. I'm not so sure that mainstream people will care, either." - Jonathan Metts

"Revolution? Oh it'll be great--hey look over here! Another GBA! Isn't this screen great! And look, a regular headphone jack! I bet you thought one of those things would take up to much space, hahaha!" - Michael "TYP" Cole
