Happy 4th Birthday Planet GameCube!

by the NWR Staff - March 7, 2003, 3:16 pm EST

Slightly late, but it's due to GDC. Whatever, we were out celebrating our birthday! We should! Raise your glasses! Planet GameCube is FOUR YEARS OLD!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PLANET GAMECUBE!

It’s not very often that I can say that I am speechless,

because usually I have no problem coming up with words and can ramble on for way too long.  But today is a very special day to me and to the staff.  Ladies and Gentlemen, Planet GameCube is four years old.

Happy Birthday Planet GameCube!

Happy 4th Planet GameCube!

I’ll probably still ramble on, so bear with me.  I

think I’ve said it all before in our

first,

second,

and third

birthdays, but really, it’s truly an honor to be able to do what we do every

day.  Thanking everyone that deserves thanks would take forever, and it would take me hours to name everyone who has helped us become what we are today.  From the people that helped us when we were lost in new cities, to our server hosts, to our insane taxi drivers, to the PR firms that deal with our daily bitching, etc, etc…we do love you all.

Four years ago this entity began out of a challenge I set

for myself.  Planet GameCube has far exceeded any expectations I could have even

fathomed.  To be honest, we literally have to make up new goals to accomplish every year, because so far we’ve accomplished everything we set out to do.  So what's left?  Personally, I still want a one-on-one interview with Shigeru

Miyamoto, or Planet GameCube to be either mentioned in the credits of

some game, or Louie the Cat as a secret character in the next Smash Brothers.

C’mon now, after four years of tireless dedication, is that too much to ask for? I

think not.  Write your local governments and congressmen to make sure this

happens.  I know you developers are reading this.  C’mon Shiggy, give us some

ruv…er…love.  Then again, we coined the name “Shiggy” too.  Oh, Christ, I’m so

going down for this.  I’m going straight to video game hell and being forced to play

Superman 64 with an original Xbox controller.  Word!

One...two...three...FOUR!

Mike Suzuki, Billy Berghammer, and Michael "TYP" Cole

I digress.  So much for being speechless eh?  Yeah, well

you get me going and I’ll get sappy like there’s no tomorrow.  I love this website.  I love the staff.  And I love you, the readers.  I personally can’t imagine waking up every morning (after 10am of course) and

not doing this every day.

Running a website isn’t the easiest thing in the world.

Most people can’t comprehend all the work that goes into this.  I’m not saying

it’s impossible, because I think anyone can do it.  It’s not like we’re some

miracle workers, but we've worked really hard to get this far.  It’s been a wonderful ride.  This all wouldn’t have been possible without the staff and the family we call Planet GameCube.  Without

your hard work, dedication, heart, and flavor, we wouldn’t be where we are

today, the largest free Nintendo website on the Internet.

I guess if I can leave with a final note, I’ll finish with

this.  Anything in this world is possible if you set your heart and mind to it.

Impossibilities are always a figment of your imagination.  And clichés are so

cliché.

The staff throughout the day will be adding pictures of us

celebrating our fourth birthday, and later on today we’ll be announcing the

biggest Nintendo giveaway the Internet has ever seen.  Stay tuned for a whole

lot of birthday love.

Word.
