A two case set calls for a two case review.
Like several other cases, the GameCube and GBA Carry Case Set carries the official Nintendo license. Both cases are sturdy and are emblazoned with the official GCN and GBA logos. Let's take a look at each one individually.
GameCube Carry Case
The main gripe I have with this case is that there are no instructions or diagrams included at all. My brother and I spent about thirty minutes trying to fit everything in before we finally got frustrated and left it for a few days. I finally got back to it, and messed around until I made it work.
The system itself must be placed sideways inside the main pocket with the power block fitting beneath the handle. Then you place a soft pad on top of the cube to protect it there. On the inside of the lid is a mesh pocket that may be used to store the AV cables or other accessories.
There are two side pockets to fit controllers in. Each controller must be placed with the bottom facing out and the wire coiled between the handles. In the front is another pocket that is oddly split into three sections. At most two games can be squeezed in unless you happen to pick up some different cases. Also, there is a padded shoulder strap and a ring where the GBA case clips on.
Everything is well protected and the case is comfortable, but I do wish that there was more space for additional games or controllers. And even though the GameCube logo looks rather slick, I'm a little nervous to walk the streets of Los Angeles advertising the fact that I have hundreds of dollars of electronics on my back.
GBA Carry Case
I find a lot more use for the GBA case since it is a portable system. It's compact and fits easily into the front pocket of a backpack. Plus, there is a clip that can be used to attach it to the GameCube case or a belt loop.
The front pocket only holds three games, but the main pocket is quite versatile. With the system, you can fit in five extra games (one of them in the cartridge slot) OR a link cable. Either way, there is still plenty of room for a small set of headphones like the ones that came with the original Game Boy ten years ago.
I really don't have any complaints with this case. The Velcro is strong enough that you don't have to worry about anything falling out, and the case holds a lot for its size.
