Wario World

Greed is good!

Last year at E3, Wario World was a little bit too early to get the full scope of what the game was going to be. However this year, the full spectrum of what Wario World intends to be is clear. Wario World resembles something like a wacky quasi-sidescroller. The object is to beat up enemies and take their coins because Wario is bigger and he can.

You progress through the game by choosing worlds and attempting to extract treasures and coins from them. Wario does this by beating up enemies. The controls for the game are A for jumping, B for attacks, and L or Z to inhale the coins dropped by the enemies. Yes, you read right. Wario opens his gaping maw wide and sucks the luscious coins into his oral orifice. The C-stick moves the camera in an interesting way. You can zoom out and shift the perspective from side to side. This gives the game a sidescroller feel and makes for interesting and fun gameplay.

Above all, when I played Wario World, I had immense amounts of fun. When I knocked an enemy unconscious, I picked him up and did a fantastic pile-driver which eliminated all opposition. And it was fun to do it over and over. The music sounded great, and Wario is, as always, a voiced work of art. I didn’t find any bosses or anything, but I am sure they are there. Wario World is a blast, and I really enjoyed playing it.
