NOA Reveals Q4 DS Release Schedule

Also, Final Fantasy V Advance gets a date, and the launch date for Wii is teased.

Nintendo Game Offerings Heat Up as the Weather Cools Down

The fourth quarter of 2006 will herald a new era for Nintendo with the

launch of its remarkable new Wii™ home video game system. But that's not

what this news item is about! How could that be, you ask? Perhaps the secret

to the launch information for Wii is somehow encoded in the text of this news

item. You might want to pore over it for a few hours before staying up all

night to debate phraseology and comma placement with your friends online. Or

maybe it's all just a scam to get you to read the other games we have

launching this fall. One of the two.

As the weather cools down, the Nintendo portable game offerings heat up.

FINAL FANTASY® V ADVANCE makes its way to Game Boy® Advance SP on Nov. 6.

As series go, FINAL FANTASY is to video games what James Bond is to movies.

FINAL FANTASY loyalists will enjoy an opportunity to debate which installment

was best.

Nintendo DS™ owners are the big winners. Every week or so, another

huge DS title hits, from the Touch Generations title Clubhouse Games™ to

fan favorites like Elite Beat Agents™ and Yoshi's Island™ 2. Clearly a

gamer's idea of paradise, here is Nintendo's upcoming DS lineup:

Oct. 9: Clubhouse Games™

Oct. 16: Nintendogs™ (Dalmatian)

Oct. 23: Magical Starsign™

Oct. 30: Pokemon® Ranger

Oct. 30: Children of Mana®

Nov. 6: Elite Beat Agents™

Nov. 13: Yoshi's Island™ 2

Dec. 4: Custom Robo™ Arena

Dec. 4: Kirby™ Squeak Squad

And, for Nintendo GameCube™ owners, The Legend of Zelda®: Twilight

Princess will be available for you this fall. An enhanced version also will

be a launch title for Wii. That will all happen on ... Oh look, we're out

of space.

Talkback

Bartman3010July 25, 2006

Looks like that GCN Kirby game is lost. Lost forever!

Oh well, at least theres some defenite musts in that list ofr me. Elite Beat Agents and hopefully Artoon does better with Yoshi's Island 2...

Wait...no Mario VS. DK 2?

JonLeungJuly 25, 2006

Judging from the weekly release schedule, Nintendo might want to release it on Nov. 20. (Or they would, if it wasn't a Monday.) Say on or about that date. Because there's a gap between Yoshi's Island 2 (Nov. 13) and the two Dec. 4 games.

Here's something funny. I was checking on the calendar. Nov. 20 is also "Revolution Anniversary" day in Mexico! o_0

Okay, it's a coincidence. Like how the GameCube launched on the day the first ReBoot movie aired on TV on its home station, YTV, in Canada...ReBoot also featured purple "Game Cubes". o_0

EDIT: Though it might be neat (at least for Mexicans) I realised that Nov. 20 can't be the date, if Nintendo is insistent on releasing the Wii before the PS3, and the launch day for that is Nov. 17. Strange how Nintendo wouldn't release new DS games on the day of the PS3...it would make more sense than having the Wii and new DS games crowding in on each other's release dates.

Those are release dates for Quarter 4 which means Oct. - Dec.

MvDK2 is a Q3 release = Jul. - Sept.

August 28th: Star Fox: Command
September 11th: Mario Hoops 3on3
September 25th: Mario versus Donkey Kong 2

November 19th...

The sunday before thanksgiving.

Same as Gamecube.

That will be the date.

I'm guessing

NinGurl69 *hugglesJuly 25, 2006

Better not. It's October, foolz.

Releasing it after the ps3, wit the same date as GameCube's, makes it the next GameCube. Another cheap toy no one will care about once PSP surpasses the iPod in portable media marketshare.

October 2nd FTW!!

JonLeungJuly 25, 2006

I'm pretty sure the GameCube launched on Nov. 18, actually, and Canadians celebrate their Thanksgiving in October (which you Americans observe as Columbus Day), which falls on October 9th this year.

And that would be a sweet date.

Anyway, what the heck is Magical Starsign™? Is that anything like an English title for a Stafi game or something?

BlackNMild2k1July 25, 2006

I hope it is an early October launch, that would give gamers more than a month to get so preoccupied with the Wii that no one even bothers to notice the PS3 and its $600 price tag. And even if they do notice it and then contmeplate buying one, they will put if off for a while($300 price point) until they are done playing all their new Wii games.

Gamecube did launch on the 18th, but that was the Sunday before thanksgiving, which is what I meant by "same day"

All of those release dates are on a monday, except October 2, November 20 and November 27 don't have any release dates.

Ah, okay, my bad, I read it the wrong way.

Now Oct. 2 might be a good guess, as there seems to be something almost every week, but seeing as how there's two games on Dec. 4, and two other days (Nov. 20 and 27) that don't have new DS games, that's not really solid enough, as much as we all would love it. Now while they could have a weekly schedule (the late November dates might have some new Wii games), why would they want to release it on a Monday? Isn't that an odd day of the week to release something like that?

I'm hoping it is the English name for Magical Vacation 2 on the DS. That would rule.

He's one step closer to figuring out the secret. Yes the definition!!

1. To read or study carefully and attentively: pored over the classified ads in search of a new job.
2. To gaze intently; stare.
3. To meditate deeply; ponder: pored on the matter.

Maybe they mean to gaze intently at the press release. Ya know if you look close enough and kind of cross your eyes you can see an image of the release date. Just like those 3D pictures...you have to look "beyond" the press release. (like until september)

Or, I have been told by a guy that takes out the trash for a girl who's brother shines shoes for a guy that works next to NOA headquarters (so you know it's accurate!) if you meditate while staring at an image of the Wii-mote, you will fall into a daze and Mario will secretly tell you the release date. The trick is you have to keep staring at it...til....ummmm, september.

JonLeungJuly 25, 2006

^Side note: Those "3D pictures" are called stereograms (and definitely not "Magic Eye"s, which are just a series of books and posters, etc. featuring stereograms).

Launching AFTER the PS3 is a horrible idea. Ideally, Nintendo wants everyone who was even thinking about the Wii to have bought one by the time the PS3 rolls around because, if they DO get suckered into buying a PS3, there's no way in hell they'll have enough money left over to go pick up a Wii.

It's the new Kirby action game for DS that was playable at E3.

getter77July 25, 2006

I also think an Octoberish release date is in Big N's best interest. That way, even those that are planning on getting a PS3 can perhaps pick up a Wii beforehand with enough time to rebuild their PS3 warchest. Otherwise, all those PS3 folk will likely be unwilling to plunder their stash once it gets to be very near to PS3 lauchtime...and Smash's situation becomes reality.

Early October would allow for a nice window of time to spiffy things up for the mid-late December holiday sale stampedes as well.

I just hope the initial supplies are plentiful with restocks being substantial and speedy come time for it.

Exactly.

When the Wii is out and the Wii advertising machine is in full swing, it's going to make would-be PS3 buyers look harder and harder at the Wii, especially when those commercials advertise the price of the Wii and they realize they could get a Wii and 7 games for the price of a PS3.

They want this to happen for as long as possible, so a month long lead over the PS3 would be absolutely perfect.

jgh10July 25, 2006

"One of the two."

Keep in mind the last thing they say in the first paragraph... "One of the two"... Their are two Mondays which aren't filled with game releases, that leads me to believe that its going to be one of those two gaps in the release schedule which sees the Wii launch.

Nov. 20 or Nov. 27 is going to be the launch.

As for the PS3 concern, Nintendo has stated time and time again that it is not competing with Sony and Mircosoft in the traditional manner. It is not going to matter for them if PS3 launches first or second for the reason that both Sony and Nintendo have 6 million units to last throughout the fiscal year... Both Nintendo and Sony will sell 6 million units no issue. Theirs going to be enough Nintendo fans to make Nintendos launch sell out and enough Sony fans to make Sonys launch sell out...

The issue is after this 6 million units ship, when the hardcore fans are done buying... Which system will rake in the consumer... Will it be the lower price? Will it be the higher graphical power? Will it be Halo-mania? What will cause people to buy a console...

Keep in mind NINTENDO is not competing against Sony or Mircosoft and its ONE OF THE TWO...

Thats my thought and I'm sticking to it... My guess is Nov. 20th...

steveyJuly 25, 2006

and dont forget Oct 2 is a monday and their are five October date and 2 nov. & dec. so October 2nd more likely... just 588119 seconds to go till we can play with zelda wii!

getter77July 25, 2006

Nin can posture all they want about not competing and such....fact of the matter is they are in trouble if many "gamers" are FLAT BROKE in the period immediately following the launch of the PS3...possibly all the way past the Holidays. Nin still needs people to have money to spend on stuff other and survivable food and electricity in the wake of the PS3.

Furthermore, it would allow Nin to go ahead and clear out those hardcore Wii buyers EARLY on. That way, in the subsequent weeks leading up to and beyond the PS3 launch...Ninentod can hit the ground running on restocking in a quick and plentiful manner that much sooner to greatly increase the number of Wii units available for people to spend the douhg they have left come Christmas time on GAMES...not on a system. Remember as well...stores are gonna pack shelf space with PS3's come launch time...so it would be better for the Wii to still be flowing in after the initial Wii deluge early on..lest stores gotta make a tough choice on whether to stock lots of Wii or lots of PS3 at the same time the PS3 makes a grand debut. Would be RIGHT HANDY if a store happened to have a decent number of Wii on hand for those poor camped out souls that were a little too far back in the line to partake until Sony gets more units on the shelves in a week or couple later on.

GoldenPhoenixJuly 25, 2006

I see no reason for Wii NOT to launch in October, by many of the accounts I have read it appears to be almost finished. So I don't see why people have a tough time coming to grips with an October or early November release. Releasing the Wii within a few days of PS3 would be one of the most boneheaded moves they could make, regardless of what Nintendo says they are still competing for consumer dollars.

MarioJuly 26, 2006

Nothing worth buying on that list, where's Hotel Dusk? I'd buy that. It looks like DS has already blown it's load this year with New SMB. Not that i'm complaining, that'll last me for ages. I guess this is Nintendos way of helping us save money for Wii.

EDIT: Oh yeah, the mystery, just noticed it. Everyone's talking about boring guesses like October or November, who cares, that isn't exciting at all, definately not worth a press release. Here's proof as to why the release date will be September 3, 9/3.

There are 3 things referencing the number 9.

1) The number of letters in James Bond.
2) The number of letters in Hotel Dusk, which is mysteriously absent from the list.
3) The number of games on the list.

September 3 launch date is now fact. Don't Nintendo systems launch over there on a Sunday as well? It all fits.

This leads me to speculate about the 4th quarter of 2006 BS. Obviously they mean literally. 1 quarter of 2006 is 501.5. So each quarter, including the 4th, would be 501.5. So Wii is launching 501.5? Simple

5 + 0 + 1 + 5 = 11

Now we take that 1.5. The point has to be there for a reason. Simple, we round it up one, from 1 to 2. Which mean we'd add a simple 1 to this, making it 12.

Add another 4, since it's the 4th quarter. They didn't put that 4 in there for nothing.

12 + 4 = 16

Here's where the brilliance unfolds. The fourth quarter of 16, is 12 to 16. 12? The significance of 12 is the fact that 9 + 3 = 12.

9 / 3

This is why I think it's so immensely important to launch well in advance of the PS3.

Between commercials, reviews and curiosity (and hopefully a few Wii-owning friends), these would-be PS3 owners who will have saved up likely $800 if they intend to buy the PS3 and some games will realize that they could have a Wii, 4 controllers and 6 games for the same amount they intended to spend on the PS3.

If there's a month of Wii before the PS3 launches, this will encourage bored people to go out and buy one even further because they're bored and need something to play.

It has to be "ONE OF THE TWO" dates that they didn't have a game on... it only makes sense...

Nintendo can release before or after Sony with no effect on its launch because BOTH will have shortages... BOTH will sell out...

I'd rather have a Nov. launch with an extra month for them to complete the games, I mean c'mon the games were all choppy at E3, we want complete games...

cebrianJuly 27, 2006

You know... I have a theory, ONE of the TWO could mean one of the dates with two dates, either 30 of october or december the 4th, But since retailers have hinted at a octber 30th release of the legend of zelda it would be a good guess 30 of october before PS3

that's what it means....get everyone excited over looking at the dates and trying to figure everything out. But in the meantime, you all know when the new games are coming out. It's simply NOA's way of having fun.

Althought jokingly I said Oct 2nd due to it being the first monday missing on the list (look at page one) and multiple sites have quoted the same thing. I claim to crack the code first!!! Wait I just said there was no code....ok...so there's no code, but if there is and I solved it, then yes there is a code...but no, there isn't.......I'll throw out a date...Oct 15th. Why not.

PGC should start a pool. Whoever gets the right date wins a prize...maybe big maybe little, who knows!

Donutt007July 27, 2006

The O 2...october 2nd. Hey it's a new theory built on an old date....hahahaha

cebrianJuly 28, 2006

i have another conspiracy theory.

FINAL FANTASY is to Vgames what james bond is to movies, you see, final fantasy was all caps and thats a hint

the last numbered final fantasy out in the US was eleven (november) and the last james bond movie was the 20th.

So, november the 20th, a revolutionary date in mexico (i'm from mexico)

So, one of the two mondays without a release would be the 20th two, besides its the first one of them, so ONE of the two, the first out of a pair...

I can just imagine the advertising in Mexico, JOIN THE REVOLUTION November 20 with a lot of sombreros (mexican hats) and everything HAHAHAHAH

Another one would be

Final Fantasy XII is released on october 31st, and the next james bond movie on november 17th
ONE of the TWO would be to pick one of those dates, the same as PS3, or a halloween date the same day as FFXII

1) Who cares which Final Fantasy was last released in the US? Japan has everything to do with everything, so that would make it 12, thereby making the month obviously wrong.

2) I thought the last James Bond was 21... Making the date wrong. Who thinks December 21? Certainly not me, thats just dumb, unless Nintendo knows the PS3 will be delayed until January (wouldn't surprise me).

Think about my last post, people. Out of space. SPACE WORLD! The Nintendo-only press expo in Japan. I bet Nintendo is planning on holding a surprise Space World 2006 (the last one being in 1999) We'll see, huh?
