You heard right, there is a brand new playable character for the GameCube version of Skies of Arcadia. Get the juice inside.
According to the french site Newtechnix, Sega has announced a brand new playable character for the GameCube version of Overworks' fantastic RPG Skies of Arcadia (Eternal Arcadia in Japan). The news is in french so here is a translation via the all knowing Babelfish:
Sega announced that the play of role Skies of Arcadia Legend (Eternal Arcadia) should leave this year to Japan. The adaptation on GameCube should be technically identical compared to the version on Dreamcast, one will however note some small improvements on the level of graphics of the play. Certain innovations should be available, a new playable character feminin: a hunter of premiums.
Here's my translation of Babelfish's translation: Skies of Arcadia is coming out this year in Japan. It's going to be the same, but it will look and play a bit better. There's also a new kick ass female playable character who will bawl and smash all over the skies, and she's some kind of bounty hunter.
They also have a scan of the information revealing this character. It also seems that there is a new ship in the game, though I could be wrong.
Reports from other sites are saying that not only is there a new character but new "elements in the system" and new events.
UPDATE: Afther further studying the information in the latest Famitsu, this new character's name appears to be "Pistol" and her ship is called "The Avenger." Of course, these names could change for the US verson of the game. Also, the official name of the game is now Eternal Arcadia Legend and will probaby be Skies of Arcadia Legend.
