It may or may not be indicative of anything, but NOA has an interesting poll on its web site...
NOA's GameCube Zelda profile has a poll asking gamers what they think of the "toon-shaded" Zelda. So far the overwhelming majority prefers a realistic look while a decent number claim not to care. It seems Americans don't like the new look as a whole. Shigeru Miyamoto has claimed people are getting tired of realistic graphics, but even he (or Nintendo executives) may need to reconsider Zelda's look if these statistics hold true in Europe as well.
Like most of Nintendo's online polls, this could be purely for web surfer amusement and the resulting outcome could be meaningless (as the displayed sample is hardly a process of random selection), but Nintendo is obviously aware of the controversy.
