What's this?! Nintendo is buying Sega? Well... we'll leave it to you to decide.
According to Reuters, Wednesday's New York Times is reporting that Nintendo has been in discussions for months to purchase rival Sega for reportedly $2 billion.
Regardless of Time's source, a Sega spokesman called the claims "absolutely outrageous." A Nintendo spokesman said, "In this industry there are various kinds of rumors," and laughed.
The newspaper also claims Sega Chairman Isao Okawa has been wanting to sell the company for some time, and has even communicated with Microsoft about a deal.
Whether or not this tidbit of information is for real, it is at least worthy of discussion. Would it be a good idea? What would it mean for Nintendo, or the industry? Talk about it!
