Donald Duck will be coming to Dolphin & every other system too!

Donald Duck is doing the Dolphin! Ewww..that doesn't sound right. :) Oh well....Ubi Soft is bringing Donald Duck to every system it possibly can. A Dolphin version is already in the works, and could be ready by launch? Hmmmmm....

GameSpot News has learned that Ubi Soft has big plans for its license of the popular Disney character Donald Duck. Although the company previously announced that it was working on a Donald Duck game, at the time details were hard to come by. But now we've been able to garner some for you.

Ubi Soft is planning for its new Donald Duck game to land on just about every platform out there, including current popular systems such as the Nintendo 64, PlayStation, Game Boy Color, and Dreamcast. Donald will also make his way to future platforms such as the PlayStation2 and Dolphin (development is said to be already underway on both these consoles).

Donald Duck will be a platform game, and it will run on the engine that was created for Rayman 2. While the game itself will be skewed toward a younger audience, Ubi Soft hopes that more mature gamers who enjoyed the play mechanics in Rayman 2 will look past the younger themes and still enjoy it.

As for when we can expect the title to release, development on the PlayStation, Nintendo 64, and Dreamcast versions is coming along smoothly, and the title is currently at an early playable stage. We assume it'll be ready by summer or fall of this year. Look for it to definitely make an appearance at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in May. A PlayStation2 version of the game could possibly make it out before year's end, and a Dolphin version could be ready by the time that console releases - whenever that may be.
