The Wii U version hit technical setbacks delaying it past the other versions.
Watch Dogs for Wii U is still in development and is slated for a possible release in 2014. It is being delayed past the other versions, which are due out in late May, because of some technical issues and a desire for using the GamePad effectively.
Watch Dogs is still in development at Ubisoft Romania, according Senior Producer Dominic Guay in a Polygon interview. The game is being developed by Ubisoft Montreal on other platforms.
"Yeah it's still alive," Guay said. "We still haven't defined a ship date for it, though. So it's on hold, to a certain extent for shipping."
Guay cited that one of the reasons for delaying the game's release date was due to the game having problems running on the Wii U hardware. The studio in Romania is also still working on ways to incorporate the GamePad into the experience.
A 2014 ship date is still a possibility, though Guay wouldn't confirm it. Watch Dogs was previously announced for a November 2013 release on Wii U before it was delayed with the other versions to spring 2014, and then delayed again.
