Nintendo is not forgetting about the two-dimensional DS just yet.
Nintendo has announced new Pokémon and Kirby titles for the DS.
The Pokémon game is titled Battle & Get! Pokémon Typing DS!, and it appears it will feature gameplay reminiscent of SEGA's The Typing of The Dead. Interestingly, the game will actually ship with a peripheral: the Nintendo Wireless Keyboard. The lower DS screen will show a keyboard, and players will likely need to type a variety of phrases and Pokémon names to catch em’ all. The game is being developed by Genius Sonority, the developers of Pokémon Battle Revolution and 100 Classic Book Collection.
HAL Laboratory’s new Kirby game will not have a yarn-filled world like the upcoming Wii game, but will instead feature a graphical style much closer to the classic Dream Land series. It appears that Kirby may have been cloned as players will be in control of up to 10 copies of the marshmallow-like protagonist. While it has not been confirmed, the screenshots make it looks like there will be touch-screen controls, possibly similar to those in Kirby Canvas Curse.
