Mario Kart Across the Four Corners

How can people in four different states race each other in Mario Kart? No, not online...you just need the right location, and the power of Game Boy Advance.

Mario Kart fans in Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah, here's your chance to snag some free stuff and participate in one of the coolest promo events we've ever heard of. Nintendo of America is hosting a special multiplayer session of Mario Kart: Super Circuit at the "Four Corners".

In case you've never heard of it, the Four Corners is a place right where the borders of the aforementioned states meet. There's a little museum/shrine kind of thing showing you exactly where the four states' corners are, and many people go there and get in a push-up position just to say that they had a limb in four different states at once. Neat.

NOA is taking it to a whole new level, allowing four people to be playing Game Boy Advance at the same time across four different states. It all takes place on August 15th, at 10:00 AM Mountain Standard Time. One "kid" (we'll see about that) from each of the four states will be selected through various Radio Disney contests, and they'll all four face off whilst wearing custom-made helmets; the winner will get a hug from Mario. No joke, just read the press release:

Is it possible for four kids standing in four states to compete against each other playing a single Game Boy Advance game? Well, Nintendo and Mario prove it can be done!

The ultimate race at Four Corners Monument celebrates the release of Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Nintendo’s first Game Boy Advance title with the special mode allowing four players to race against each other using one game pak.

“These contestants don’t have to have a driver’s license to race in this game,” said Mario, Nintendo’s famous plumber. “If they can maneuver around Donkey Kong’s banana peels and avoid the bombs, they will be home free!”

One racer will be chosen from each of the four states through Radio Disney events in Albuquerque, Denver, Phoenix and Salt Lake City to be a part of history, in the first ever “Mario Kart Race Across 4 States.” The competition will be heated, as the winner of the single-elimination format race-off will need to avoid environmental hazards and navigate the track to victory.
