Lawyers for Nintendo and several other gaming companies have asked that a lawsuit partially blaming them for the Columbine massacre be dismissed.

You may remember that families of Columbine victims issued a lawsuit against videogame companies some time ago. The companies involved in the lawsuit included Acclaim, Activision, Capcom, Eidos, Infogrames, Interplay, Nintendo, Sony, and Square. Interestingly, Square has since been dropped from the suit for unknown reasons.

According to the AP and FGN Online, lawyers representing these companies have asked a federal judge to dismiss the lawsuit, simply because no specific games are named by the victims' families. The attornies also say that games are protected under the First Amendement, and that gaming companies cannot be held responsible for how players react to the games.
