Mega Man Zero 4

by Vincent Anderson - May 19, 2005, 12:17 pm EDT

Zero is back, but is he welcome?

Oh, those lovable Reploids. They just seem to keep finding ways to get themselves in trouble. After the defeat of the leader of Neo Arcadia, most humans have abandoned the city and are now scattered throughout the land, while others stayed behind to struggle for independence over the evil Dr. Weil.

The game starts out with Zero busting out his weapons on top of one of the enemy transports, and you start your adventure from there. From what I played of the game, all the basic Mega Man-style activies are there for your perusal. You have your basic blaster weapon, a charge shot, and you can still climb up the side of the walls by jumping.

That's all good and well, but I'm worried if that's all the game is going to be. I could only play the game for so long, so I don't know where it could have gone, but this is a stale experience. Don't get me wrong, I love this style of game, but you can only take so many sequels or spin-offs before you have to say enough is enough.

Saying that, I still enjoyed what I've played of the game, but that's the Mega Man fan in me. Hopefully, we'll learn more about any new play mechanics that might change up gameplay as development of the game continues.
