Making a Wish With Jirachi

Ben gets the Pokémon Colosseum bonus disc to fix Game Freak's crippling bug...and gets a free Jirachi in the process!

Ah, there's nothing like giving something for free to fix a bug in a game. Nintendo, in this particular case, have decided to give players their very own Jirachi. Doing so is an incredibly easy process, as Nintendo gives you a visual guide. To get started, you'll need to select the "Jirachi Special Gift" menu option.

Jirachi Menu Selection

Once you've done this, the Bonus Disc Jirachi download will begin by showing you what you need to fix your Pokémon cartridge. You'll need a GameCube, a Game Boy Advance, a copy of Pokémon Ruby or Sapphire, and a Game Boy Advance to GameCube link cable.

Setting up the GameCube and GBA

From here, you'll be asked if you have a free space in your party for Jirachi. If you don't, the Bonus Disc will show you exactly how to remove a character from your party. It shows you to use the PC in the Pokémon Center and access the box storage. From there, it will take you back to the Main Menu to try again.

Freeing a space in the Party

Once you have a spare slot, the GameCube will attempt to communicate with the Game Boy Advance. If you have a foreign Pokémon cartridge, the program will stop and quit after informing you that your cartridge is not compatible with this fix. Although it asked for a North American version of Pokémon Ruby or Sapphire, I was still able to download Jirachi with my Australian version. (Importers get on eBay quick smart!)

Attempting to use a foreign cart

From here, the Bonus Disc will update your Berry Program on Pokémon Ruby or Sapphire. Then, you're treated to a short movie of Jirachi arriving. Check out some pictures of it on the next page:
